During my time at the Country Music Association I received an EMMY Nomination for the 47th Annual CMA Awards Backstage Pass live stream. Along with Nic Dugger and Chris Payne at TNDV we produced the hosted live stream red carpet and backstage show live from the CMA Awards. Guests included Garth Brooks, Steven Tyler, Blake Shelton and more.
When Shazam (the music discovery app) reached out to me a few years ago they already had millions of users on the platform. These users were not only discovering new music but they were buying it as well! With this data we engaged fans during the CMA Awards and CMA Music Festival TV Special to “Shazam” the show for bonus content and to buy the songs they were hearing during the show. With 10% of the audience actually buying music it was a huge success.
Engaging fans in new and exciting ways is a big priority. In 2013, with help from the genius engineers at ABC, Mass Relevance (now Spredfast), CMA Production and CMA Marketing, we did the first-ever national broadcast integration of real-time Instagram photos in prime time. The social audience we built at CMA was consistently bigger than that of the Academy Awards and second only to the Grammys! With a mix of paid campaigns, promotions and sweepstakes and the hard work of many people at ABC and CMA we amassed a sizable social, email, text/sms and web audience.
